Crocheted Baby Wash Cloths

Collaborating once again this month with a lovely group of Bloggers to bring you some new craft ideas. For the May Craft Destash we are challenged to create a project using only items currently found in our craft stash. We were to make something new with crafty supplies or re-make an item we've been holding on to for a while. For this challenge, hosted by Megan from C'mon Get Crafty,  I decided to make these Crocheted Baby Wash Cloths.

Crochet Baby Wash Cloths

Do you know someone who is expecting? These crocheted baby wash cloths will make the perfect gift! They stitch up quickly and can be made in any color. I made these for my daughter who is expecting in Novemeber. She will find out the gender this week but I wanted to make something for her while waiting to find out.
I had all the yarn I needed for these wash cloths. I actually made a few other colors as well - they just are not in the pictures! So I had no additional cost for this project.

Materials:
Small amount of cotton yarn
Size G crochet hook

Directions:
Chain 27 (or any odd number of chains to your desired width)
Row 1: Single crochet (SC) in the second chain from hook then double crochet (DC) in the next chain. Repeat those two stitches until you reach the end. Your last stitch should be a double crochet. You should have 26 stitches.
Row 2: Chain 1 (does not count as a stitch) then single crochet in the first double crochet and double crochet in the next stitch. Repeat SC, DC until you reach the end of the row. You should have 26 stitches.
Repeat Row 2 until you have the desired length. That's it - very easy and oh so cute!

Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C'mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! Everyone is allowed a $10 allowance for necessities to complete their project (i.e. paint brushes, glue, etc), but the bulk of it must be created from their own stash of goodies.

Let's meet this month's blogg ers!!

Crocheted Newborn Hat and Slippers

Every month a group of bloggers are challenged by C'mon Get Crafty to create a new craft or project from their own stash of goodies! I've decided to join up with this group. After years of
collecting craft and sewing supplies I figured it was about time to try to put them to good use.  So when my step-daughter told us she was pregnant I knew my yarn stash would come in handy. A crocheted newborn hat and slippers was my project of choice. I just didn't know what color to make them until she had her gender reveal party a couple of weeks ago.

A baby girl - so glad I had pink yarn left over from a project I had made for my daughter when she was in high school! I also had some white yarn for the flower as well as little pink rosettes (which were probably from when my daughter was a baby!).

Crochet supplies

For the hat I used this pattern using a v-stitch from the website Lacy Crochet. She has a lot of pretty patterns so be sure to check out her site!

Then I made the flower from this pattern from the See Jenn Do website. Here are her very easy to follow directions:
1. Ch 27
2. Skip first 4 ch, sc in 5th ch from hook, (ch2, skip 1 ch, sc) accross.
3. Turn piece, (sc, ch1, 3dc, ch1, sc) in each ch2 space accross, and also in ch4 space at the end.
4. Finish off, leaving a long tail, and threading tail through a needle.
5. Form flower by holding short beginning tail and turning the petals around.
6. Using the long tail, sew petals in place, beginning with outer 2 layers of petals, and finishing with a few stitches to hold all layers together.

And finally the slippers were made from this pattern at the Loganberry Handmade website.

Crocheted Slippers
I finished the project by using a little hot glue to attach the pink rosettes to the slippers as well as the center of the flower. I can't wait to give these to my step-daughter for Christmas!

Cute Crocheted Halloween Cat Hat

Halloween is quickly approaching and the weather is getting cooler! What better way to celebrate than with this cute crocheted Halloween cat hat!

This hat will fit a toddler. You can skip the bow if you are making it for a young gentleman. The pattern comes from Crochet for You. So you can hop over to her blog for the directions.

To make the hat you will need:

1 small ball of medium weight black yarn
Small amount of orange yarn
Small amount of pink yarn
I crochet hook
H crochet hook
A tapestry needle for sewing nose, whiskers and weaving in ends

This hat works up really fast. You can easily make it in an evening then gift it to your favorite little one for Halloween!
